The national campaign has been created to help people find out whether or not they are at risk and encourage many to spread the word about the deadly illness.

Rouge sweep up Ecorse on Breast Cancer Awareness Night

In the first game the Lady Panthers and the Lady Raiders ended the first half with 18 points apiece, however, the second half Rouge took direct command of the game to triumph over Ecorse by the final score of 49-29. Star Harris lead the Lady Panthers with 15 points, five assists, and six steals before fouling out. It was Harris and her teammate Sabreanna Beard, who at the beginning of the season thought to they should do something to bring awareness about Breast Cancer. Coach Brain Rainey said for two kids to bring about something so very important to all us; I backed them one hundred percent. The Lady Panthers wore “Pink Uniforms” in the game. Their record as of this past Monday is, 11-1.
In the second game of the double header Ecorse’s Red Raiders carried out the task to come into Lofton Greene Gymnasium ready to play basketball to obtain a split this past Friday night against River Rouge. However, Robert Metcalf’s 30 points lead the Panthers to a 75 -65 beating at a packed home court at River Rouge. The first quarter Ecorse lead for one of the few times in the game at 5-0, nevertheless, the Panthers fought back with a block by Chase Gonzelzes followed up by a Kevin Lomax slam dunk as the clock ran out of time in the first quarter to a Ecorse one point lead. In the second quarter the game got intense with both team trading baskets where at the 6:20 mark River Rouge was clinging to a one-point lead. However, at the 5:14 mark of the second quarter and with an overflowing Lofton Greene Gymnasium, three separate fights broke out in the stand during the basketball match delaying the game and sending both teams to the locker room in the second quarter for 19 minutes. After the delay the crowd settled down and got back to watching basketball and just as in the first quarter, Kevin Lomax scored a bucket for the Panthers as the Panthers led at halftime 28-25.
