Tigers were entertaining this Weekend

 


It’s a different group of entertainers on the Detroit Tigers ball club getting the job done as our home team have won as per this past Monday have won four out of five games. Yes in this past Monday game James McCann hit a drive to left field and hesitated ever so to some extent however not enough to cause any sort of occurrence, however enough to make it clear he realized how well he'd connected a bases loaded grand slam homerun. "That was a good feeling, and a big spot in the game to open it up like that," the Detroit catcher said. "I try not to show anybody up. It was definitely a special hit, a special feeling for me."

McCann's grand slam in the third inning lifted the Tigers to a 9-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. Matthew Boyd pitched impressively into the sixth inning for Detroit, and although Mike Trout hit his major league-leading 18th homer for the Angels in the ninth, by then the Tigers had this game well under control. Boyd (3-4) allowed two hits in five-plus innings. His first scoreless outing of the season came on a hot day in which Detroit outfielder Niko Goodrum had to leave the game because of heat exhaustion. The temperature was around 90 degrees when Goodrum was removed for a defensive replacement in the fourth.


Hey, Dixon Machado is back in the lineup after two days off to work on some adjustments to his swing. Machado said the changes were still a work in progress and he wasn't yet ready to talk about them, but manager Ron Gardenhire said the team has urged Machado to use the entire field.

By the way, Jordan Zimmerman had a rough outing in a rehab start with the Toledo Mud Hens on Sunday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning. He had one strikeout. “I feel fine,” Zimmermann said. In additions this past Monday Miguel Cabrera still on the disable list for the Tigers was working out on the field at Comerica Park in front of Manager Ron Gardenhire and team president Al Avila. Gardenhire said later “Miguel is coming along fine as now have to work on getting his wind back in game condition as he had been sitting out since May the fourth.”

The Tigers will continue their home stand as they play an afternoon game against the Angels today before playing this weekend alongside the Toronto Blue Jays before playing and day-night doubleheader against the New York Yankees this upcoming Monday. By the way as per this past Monday the Tigers are three and a half games out of first place in the America League Central.
