Barbers working hard to get the young men together

The walls of the Rollercade have been packed all Summer. For certain, this is nothing new. For generations the Southwest Detroit skating rink served the community with good, clean, and wholesome fun. This time around, the fun came with a twist.

Kyle Black pulled his resources for the Rollercade's 6th annual school supply drive. Paul's Metro PCS and Phat Headz Barbershop helped to sponsor the event.

Everything was free for all who dared to enter. Free entry, skate rental, hundreds of book bags with supplies, the Rollercade almost looked like a Walmart on wheels. The team from Phat Headz were on deck to supply free haircuts, and a nail tech was on the scene to ensure the young ladies start school with confidence and style.

Kyle was borderline speechless at the success of the back to school drive. He recalls a time where all he had to work with was a handful of dollar store backpacks.

"It can't get any better than this!" Black said behind a humble, grateful smile. "We're here to celebrate the youth and the fact that no one should be starting the school year unprepared."

Mission Successful Kyle. The neighborhood definitely appreciates your hard work.
