Ecorse

The Ecorse City Council will meet Tuesday, April 16 beginning at 7:30 p.m. City Council meetings are held in the Council Chambers of the Albert B. Buday Civic Center, located at 3869 W. Jefferson Ave.

Garden City

The Garden City Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is presenting the Military and Veteran Hometown Heroes Banner Program which recognizes those who are serving or have served in the United States Armed Forces. Banners will display a photo of the service person, their names, dates of service, and branch of service. Banners will hang in downtown Garden City from May to November to celebrate both Memorial Day and Veterans Day in the fall. For more information please visit http://www.GardenCityMI.org/DDA. The maximum number of banners will be 40 and submissions will be accepted until May1.

Inkster

The Wayne Health Mobile Unit will be at Hairstyles by Thomas beauty salon on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Services provided will include blood pressure screening, diabetes, cholesterol, and kidney function screening, influenza vaccinations, and COVID vaccinations. Insurance is not required but if you have insurance bring your card so they can bill for vaccines. Those without insurance will receive vaccines at no cost. If you have ID please bring that as well. River Rouge

The River Rouge City Council will meet on Tuesday, April 16 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Court Room at City Hall, located at 10600 W. Jefferson.

State Representative Tyrone Carter will host Coffee Hour on the second Friday of each month at River Rouge City Hall Council Chambers. The next Coffee Hour will take place on April 12 from 1 to 2 p.m.

Westland

The Westland City Council will meet on Monday, April 15 at 7 p.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Road.

Wayne County Senior Services offers congregate meals for seniors at the Friendship Center daily at 11:30 a.m. It is requested that you sign up a day in advance by calling 734-722-7362.

On Saturday, April 20 the Wayne County Department of Parks and Recreation will host Earth Day Calibration at Nankin Mills Park from noon to 3 p.m. Activities will include a Wildlife Safari Animal Show at 12:30, a presentation from Bees in the D at 1:30, and a nature hike at 2:30. There will also be a fossil dig and pond critter exploration. The event is free and pre-registration is not required. Nankin Mills is located at 33275 Edward Hines Drive. Wyandotte

Al-Anon Family Groups holds its Sticking to Basics meeting for families with a loved one struggling with an alcohol addiction on Saturday mornings at 9:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 465 Oak St. Use the side entrance at the community building.

Downriver

On Saturday, April 20 Earth Day activities will take place at Wayne County Community College’s Ted Scott Campus, located at 9555 Haggerty Road in Belleville. Events will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will include educational presentations, arts and crafts, indoor/outdoor inflatable archery, games, and light snacks. All activities are open to the public at no cost. For more information call 734-699-7008.
