yne – Wayne-Westland Community Schools (WWCS) has announced that all K-12 students will be able to receive free breakfast and lunch. The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) allows schools in low-income areas to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students without the burden of collecting free and reduced applications from families.

The opportunity for all students to receive free lunch will help diminish the negative stigmas associated with free or reduced lunches. Instead of constantly thinking about being judged or even bullied simply because of the type of lunch they receive, students can now focus on their classroom learning. Students will no longer have to settle for an inadequate meal due to a balance on their meal account.

" I am truly excited that we are now able to provide breakfast and lunch to all of our students. Excellence is the Expectation in Wayne-Westland and we strive to meet the needs of all students to create the best learning environment possible. Being under the Community Eligibility Provision will show to have great benefits in the district" said Shelley Holt, Wayne-Westland Community Schools Superintendent.

The District will be receiving reimbursements for the costs of these meals from the State of Michigan now that we are under the CEP provision. This initiative does not cost the district anything and no money will be taken out of the general fund for this program.

The Wayne-Westland Community Schools is comprised of eleven elementary schools (K-4), two upper elementary schools (5-6), two middle schools (7-8), two high schools (9-12) and an ultra-modern facility for career/technical training.
