Romulus School Board Names Acting Superintendent

ROMULUS – The Romulus Community School Board named Dr. Flinnoia Hall III as acting superintendent on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 following the administrative leave of Superintendent Marjie McAnally. Hall will immediately transition from his current role as head principal of Romulus High School.

"The board feels that Dr. Hall is a very effective and experienced administrator," said Judy R. Kennard, who serves as board president. "He is committed to academic excellence and we are confident Dr. Hall is the best individual to serve in this capacity as the acting superintendent for the Romulus school district."

The board voted to place McAnally on an immediate leave at Monday's board meeting citing a break down in superintendent-board relations.

"I am an athlete at heart. A good team player steps up when their team needs assistance," Dr. Hall explained. "We are one district and we need to move forward with a focus on our kids."

In light of the leadership announcement, Assistant Principal Floretta McNeil-Marino will become the head principal at the high school.

"We do not take this leadership change lightly," said Kennard. "As a board, we truly believe that education is a partnership between home, school and the community. Romulus schools can and will continue to strive for excellence in everything we do."

Kennard stressed the importance of ensuring all children are safe, successful, healthy and prepared for the future.

Hall, 45, who has served as the high school principal since 2014, has also served as an administrator for Highland Park, Henry Ford High School, and Saginaw Preparatory Academy. The Detroit native is credited for helping to launch the district's Virtual Learning Center.

"I'm looking forward to working with the school board in effort to address the needs of the families

and students in this community," Hall said.
