Citywide Night for Peace to be Held in Ecorse

The stated Mission of The United Communities of America (UCOA) is to reduce crime and violence through the promotion of peace and positive change.
UCOA's Vision is to create a new consciousness to communities in crisis. On Friday, March 22, 2019, the organization will bring its mission and vision to the city of Ecorse.
In addition to celebrating the efforts of the students of Ecorse High School to promote peace through the Students for Peace Program, the event will call on community members to join in the promotion of peace and non-violence within the community. The effort has been billed as a Citywide Night of Peace and Healing.
The UCOA has been working to bring both awareness and a decrease in violence through positive and peaceful means since 2010. In 2018, Mayor Lamar Tidwell offered by proclamation to declare the 22nd day of each month as a day of peace and healing within the city, joining 10 other cities in Metro Detroit in the effort.
"We're ministering to the challenges we've all been through," says UCOA Founder Rev. Ovella Davis. "We want to give emphasis to the positive and unite ourselves together."
The Citywide Night of Peace and Healing will be held at Mt. Zion M.B. Church, located at 3936 12th Street, in Ecorse. The event will begin at 7 p.m. and all are welcome to attend and promote peace, healing, and unity.
Some of the partners for this month's event are Trinity Chapel, D's Coney Island, UAW Ford, Operation Refuge, Western Wayne County NAACP, Economy Shoe Repair,Telegram News and A & D Environmental
