Inkster – The City of Inkster has prevailed in a lawsuit brought against it by Suite B, Inc. The dismissal ruling was issued on August 18 by Judge Dana Hathaway in the Wayne County Circuit Court. Suite B filed the lawsuit in 2018 against the City of Inkster, former Mayor Byron Nolen, and Charles Nolen, alleging impropriety when their medical marijuana license wasn't renewed. Inkster City Council will address the case dismissal during their virtual session on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 7 p.m.

"This is victory for the City of Inkster and for those who were wrongfully accused," said Byron Nolen, former Mayor of Inkster. "From the beginning we asserted that we acted properly and within the City of Inkster's ordinances to not grant the renewal of the license. It is unfortunate that it has cost over $100,000 in taxpayers money with this lawsuit. This lawsuit caused division within our city and a storm of misinformation during last year's municipal elections. Unfortunately, the loss of $100,000 in taxpayer money will have a direct impact on Inkster's finances. I knew the allegations made in the lawsuit were for political gain,"

The City of Inkster denied Suite B, Inc. their renewal of their medical marijuana dispensary license because one of its partners had a misdemeanor on his record. This denial was in accordance with Inkster Ordinance 858. Members of Suite B, Inc. have yet to issue a public apology to Inkster residents, City Council nor the former officials targeted in the lawsuit.
