UJAMAA - TELEGRAM NEWS SPONSORS SMALL BUSINESS OUTREACH ASSISTANCE

TRADITIONS ARE LEARNED AND THEN SHOULD BE PASSED DOWN TO YOUTH

Communities coming together to help each other

Have you heard people talk about how they wish things were like it used to be? They would say there were businesses throughout the community, owned by people who lived in the community and supported by the community. The main streets of the cities were bustling with families, walking around, shopping and keeping the businesses in business.

Well, let's get back to it. Since we survived 2020 it's time for us to thrive in 2021.

The goal of the Telegram News' UJAMAA - Cooperative Economics Program is for us to begin to rely on us for our success. If you want to participate as a business let us know. We are also looking for a few more sponsors/partners.

PURPOSE

The UJAMAA Cooperative Economics Small Business program is designed to assist small businesses with advertising during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many businesses are working hard to pay their bills with the little money that they have. We understand that they need more people to support them until the pandemic is over.

GOAL

The goal is to help 100 businesses in Wayne County with advertising by providing them with a matching grant to help with advertising. This would us give them a kickstart and help them reach more customers thus increasing their options to be successful.

PLAN

The plan is to build on the 4th Principal of Kwanzaa – UJAMAA – Cooperative Economics – this is people and businesses working together. Our goal is to encourage people to focus on supporting each other. There are numerous Black Owned Businesses that are not financially able to advertise and market their business.

HISTORY

The Telegram has always been home to small businesses. We would like to help them with their advertising and outreach over the next six months. The first three months will focus on Small Businesses, Black Owned Business and the third month will focus on Women Owned Businesses.

RESULTS

The community will value the business owners and their business while creating an image of continued growth and role models for the youth.

For more information give us a call at 313.928.2955 or 313.949.313 or send an email to [email protected]. We will send you an application.

Sponsors that have joined with the Telegram are DTE, The PEN Enrichment Center and the Western Wayne County NAACP.
