Western Wayne Family Health Centers has opened "Raiders Care" school-based health center at the Kennedy Administration Building of Ecorse Public Schools. It's a health center for students of the district. Pediatrician Dr. Gregory Treado and support staff will be at the center to see children by appointment for primary care. Services available will include physicals, sick care, management of chronic health issues and immunizations. Any student of the district and their siblings can make appointments to be seen by calling 313-561-5100. Care outside of school health center hours will be provided at the WWFHC location in Lincoln Park.

"In Ecorse, our philosophy is to give students what they need to succeed", says Dr. Josha Talison, Superintendent. "Young people can't learn unless they are healthy, so we are very excited that we can offer even more supports to our students." Linda Atkins, CEO of Western Wayne Family Health Centers agrees. "The mission of our health centers is to keep our community healthy--bringing care to a place that is easy for students and families to use gets us closer to that goal."

As Raiders Care gets established, EPS and WWFHC hope to expand services to more days, add community health events like immunization fairs, and expand to other services such as behavioral health.

Parents of students in the district will receive information about the clinic, along with a consent form they can sign and return.

Dr. Talison is quite excited about this new collaboration. He says "even though we are small, we want to provide the best for all of the children in the district. This health center is another step forward". As for WWFHC, "we have been wanting to open a school-based health center for a while and Ecorse is the perfect partner for us", says Atkins.

WWFHC operates health centers in Inkster, Taylor, Lincoln Park and Dearborn. Serving over 20,000 people a year, the centers offer medical, dental, and behavioral health care to people with and without health insurance.
