Volunteers Needed for Community Tree Planting Event In Ecorse

 

ECORSE -- ReLeaf Michigan, a statewide non-profit tree organization, in partnership with the City of Ecorse and the Detroit Zoological Society is looking for volunteers to help plant 15 trees in Ecorse on Saturday morning, June12th from 8:45 AM – 12:00 PM. The planting is being done to increase tree cover at Beach Street Park, providing shade and adding beauty to the park.

COVID protocols are in place and will be followed. Masks are required. Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothing and bring a shovel and work gloves if they have them. The group will meet at Beach Street Park, 154 Cicotte St., Ecorse, MI 48229at 8:45 a.m. to sign-in, enjoy refreshments, and watch a planting demonstration with ReLeaf Michigan's tree experts.

Event occurs rain or shine. No planting experience is necessary. Join us for the morning and leave an environmental legacy that will add to the beauty of your community for generations. Families welcome!

Trees provide incredible benefits to the communities in which they are planted. Trees improve air and water quality, reduce stormwater runoff, improve mental wellness, reduce rates of childhood asthma, cool our neighborhoods and enhance the commercial and economic vitality.

ReLeaf Michigan, a 33-year-old non-profit organization partners with communities statewide to replenish community tree canopies through volunteer tree planting events. The Detroit Zoological Society is a strong steward of the environment and has recently partnered with ReLeaf Michigan to fund a total of four tree planting events in 2021.
