ECORSE – In July, Ecorse High School was awarded vehicles, tools and components from General Motors through its corporate donations program that assists institutions within The GM Training Network.

"The implementation of the Certified Automotive Tech program at Ecorse High School will be game changing," said Superintendent Josha Talison. "Upon completion of the program and passing state exams, our students will have the opportunity to immediately get into the workforce and earn a middle-class salary."

The General Motors GM Automotive Service Educational Program curriculum incorporates advanced automotive technical training with a strong academic foundation of math, reading and electronics, and, both analytical and technical skills. Students earn an associate degree while working and learning on the job, resulting in a solid education combined with invaluable work experience.

"The Board of Education and I are dedicated to providing students with numerous opportunities related to career and

technical education. The addition of the automotive tech program aligns with this goal," said Dr. Talison. "GM has already donated two Chevy Silverado trucks for student leaning use."

Since 1979, GM's continued commitment to identify and support college and university programs has produced over 18,000 service technicians.

"There will only be 40 students admitted to the program per year, so interested students and parents should contact Ecorse High School at 313-294-4750 to enroll in the program," said Dr. Talison. "It's truly a great time to be a Raider!
