Western Wayne County NAACP to host 24th Annual Freedom Fundraiser Virtual Event

The Western Wayne County NAACP will host their Annual Freedom Fundraiser on Sunday, October 17th from 5:00pm – 6:30pm. Because of COVID-19 numbers are higher than expected, this year's event will be held via ZOOM. The ticket cost is $50.00 or $75.00 with dinner. The theme for this year's event is On the Road to Recovery – Let the Healing Begin .
They are excited to announce that Michigan Science Center CEO – Dr. Christian Greer will be the highlight of the event when he participates in a Fireside Chat with the Master of Ceremonies Darwin Griffin. Darwin did such a great job last year that he has been invited back.
The honorees for the 24rd Annual Freedom Fund Event are Connie Mitchell – Freedom & Justice, Cassandra Jones-McBryde – Trailblazer, Joshua Edmonds – Great Expectations, Western Wayne Family Health Center – Community Partner, Dr. Josha Talison – Lifetime Achievement and Congresswoman Debbie Dingell – Elected Official Service Award. This year they will be awarding their Community Leadership Awards to two people who are no longer with us – Former Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon and Abena Hogan.
They are looking forward to hosting a special interactive virtual event again this year. We will have a virtual photo booth to capture the attendees for the evening. This year they are also offering a dinner option – that can be picked up a hour before the event at three locations throughout Wayne County. (Advanced orders only)
Please join them as they recognize leaders from the community and reflect on the hard work that the Western Wayne County Branch has been involved in over the last year as they work on the NAACP's mission to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination. (For people who don't want to use ZOOM, theyare providing a Call-In Option where you can participate on your telephone.)
