The Westland City Council Meeting will be held on Monday, October 4. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and will be held at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Road. All council meetings are open to the public and provide citizens an opportunity to be heard.

The Westland Farmer’s and Artisans Market will be held on Thursday, October 7 from 3 to 7 p.m. at 1901 North Carlson Street. The market features local farmers, arts and crafts, and live music.

The Third Saturdays Park Clean Up Event will be held Saturday, October 16 from 10 a.m. to noon in Hubbard Park located at 1450 South Hubbard Street. Volunteers will help with repair and improvement projects and removing debris from the park. To find out more contact the Parks and Recreation Director Kyle Mulligan at 734-722-7620.


On Monday, October 4, the Lincoln Park City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Attendees may participate in the meeting using Zoom either online or by phone. Find details at

Garden City

The Downtown Garden City Chili Cook-off and Hot Rod and Motorcycle Show returns on Saturday, October 9. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be held at the northeast corner of Ford and Middlebelt Roads. Chili, beer, and other foods will be available for purchase. Admission and parking will be free and shuttle service from Garden City High School will be offered courtesy of Nankin Transit.


On Tuesday, October 5, the Ecorse City Council will meet at 7:30pm in the Council Chambers.

On Tuesday, October 5, the Taylor City Council will meet beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Taylor City Hall, located at 23555 Goddard Road. The public is invited to attend.

Downriver Fish and Loaves Food Panty in coordination with Rotary Clubs of Taylor, Southgate, Dearborn Heights, and Woodhaven-Brownstown will be holding a food drive to assist those in need on Saturday, October 9. The food drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be held at 25670 Northline Road. Non-perishable food items are requested such as canned goods and boxed food items.


One Health Michigan is providing free pet health services and screenings including spay/neuter, vaccines, heartworm testing, microchips, and pet food. Find out more at and scroll down the home page to the Current News section.


On Tuesday, October 4, the River Rouge City Council will meet at 7:30am in the Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of City Hall., 10600 W. Jefferson Ave.


Wayne County’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) makes funding available to assist households that are unable to pay rent or utility bills. The program is open to all communities in Wayne County. Eligibility requirements must be met. Find out more at
