HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! TIPS FOR A HEALTHIER MOTHER'S DAY

Mother's Day is just around the corner! It is a special day where we can honor and celebrate our mother. Celebrated each year on the 2nd Sunday of May, Mother's Day is also a day to celebrate motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in our society. On this day, every mother deserves to be treated specially. Whether you're celebrating your beloved mom or another special woman in your life, what better way to honor her special day than motivating her to make health a priority for a healthier life.

And if you're a mom, your world would mostly revolve around your children and family. But, that doesn't mean your health should suffer. This Mother's Day, we encourage you to make some efforts to live a safer, healthier, happier life. You don't have to make drastic changes in your lifestyle. Making a few small lifestyle changes and sticking to them can do wonders for your health. Here are a few things moms can do to keep themselves healthy and happy:

Eat your fruits and veggies

Almost every mom may have told their children, 'eat your fruits and vegetables'. It's also a good advice for moms! Nutrient-dense fruits and vegetables will reduce the risk of various health problems, including heart disease and cancer. Cut back on foods and drinks high in calories, salt, fat and alcohol.

Move more

Being physically active is one of the best things you can do for your health. It can help you lose weight and keep it off. It improves your heart health, reduces your risk of type 2 diabetes, some cancers, may even increase your lifespan. Among many other health benefits, regular exercise improves your mood and sleep quality.

Sleep well

Remember, a lack of sleep can cause a host of physical and mental health issues like cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, depression. Make sure that you get enough sleep every night.

Manage stress

Studies have linked many health problems to stress. While all of us experience stress in our life from time to time, being overwhelmed with stress most of the time can worsen or increase the risk of conditions like obesity, heart disease, diabetes, depression, asthma, etc.

Get regular checkups and reduce risks

No matter how busy you are, you should always find time to take care of yourself. This is largely important because an ailing mom will not be able to look after her home well. Have regular checkups to prevent the top threats to women's health like heart disease, breast cancer, etc. Keeping a track on your health will certainly help you to prevent or reduce your risk of certain conditions.

Happy Mother's Day!
