The Dearborn City Council will meet on Tuesday, January 11 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Dearborn Administrative Center, located at 16901 Michigan Avenue.
The Friends of the Library-Dearborn (FOLD) will host a book sale at the Henry Ford Centennial Library located at 16301 Michigan Ave. The sale will take place on Wednesday, January 12 and will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will feature books, magazines, movies, and more. All items are sold “as is” and cash, checks, and debit cards are acceptable.
The John F. Kennedy Library will be hosting a new book club beginning Monday, January 3. The Fireside Book Chat will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The featured book will be “Sourdough” by Robin Sloan and is currently available at the library, which is located at 24602 Van Born Road. Refreshments will be served.
The family-friendly New Year’s Eve Kids Countdown will take place on Friday, December 31 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Beacon Park, located at 1901 Grand River Avenue. The free event will take place inside a heated venue and will feature music, dancing, children’s activities and food trucks. A countdown to “midnight” and confetti will be part of the fun.
The Ecorse City Council will meet Tuesday, January 11 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Council Chambers located in the Buday Civic Center at 3869 W. Jefferson.
The Garden City City Council will meet on Monday, January 10 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center Council Chambers located at 6000 Middlebelt Road.
Super Hero Skate Party will be held on Saturday, January 8 at Garden City Ice Arena located at 200 Log Cabin Road. The event will take place from 7 to 8:20 p.m. Dress up as your favorite super hero and enjoy fun skating. Cost will be $10 per skater and $3 for skate rental.
Gleaners Community Food Bank will bring its mobile drive-thru food distribution to Garden City Middle School located at 1851 Radcliff. Hours of distribution will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 7 and 21. Go to http://www.gcfb.org for more information and to find additional distribution locations.
The River Rouge City Council will meet on Tuesday, January 4 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Court Room at City Hall, located at 10600 W. Jefferson.
The Romulus City Council will meet on Tuesday, January 4 at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers located at 11111 Wayne Road.
The Taylor City Council will meet on Tuesday, January 4 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Taylor City Hall located at 23555 Goddard Road.
The Westland City Council will meet on Monday, December 6 at 7 p.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Road.
The Community Housing/Development Department coordinates the distribution of surplus commodity foods to qualified low-income households in Westland. The program is administered by the Wayne County Office of Senior Services. Call the Commodities Hotline at 734-595-0366 for more information and to find out if you qualify. Pick up is usually the third week each month.
The Wayne City Council will meet Tuesday, January 4 at 7 p.m. at Wayne City Hall, located at 3355 S. Wayne Road.
The Wayne County Treasurer’s Office will be closed from Friday, December 24 to Monday, January 3, 2022. Payments can be made online at http://www.treasurer.waynecounty.com , via the mobile app, at any payment kiosk, or by phone at 313-224-5990.
All Wayne County Public Health COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics will be closed from Friday, December 24 to Monday, January 3, 2022. Clinics will resume Tuesday, January 4.
