AHRC joins the nation in celebrating the 157th Anniversary of Juneteenth

 


The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) joins the nation in celebrating and observing the 157th anniversary of Juneteenth that falls on Sunday, June 19.

Juneteenth has been celebrated by African Americans since the late 1800s. It was made a national holiday in 2021. It's a day of remembrance of slavery era in the United States when blacks were enslaved and denied their basic human rights. The Civil War and abolition did not end the suffering of African Americans. They continued to suffer all forms on discrimination.
