It's Election Season, Your Vote Matters

Over the next four months, everyone who is at least 18 years of age can let their voice be heard. It's Election season in Michigan. The Primary election date is August 2nd and the General election date is November 8th. During this time period Democracy will win.

What does that mean? It means that the people that participate in the process, by voting, will determine who will lead the State, City, School Boards and Districts. I always hear people complaining about what is going on in their communities. But when I ask them, 'Did you vote in the last election?', more often than not, they respond, 'No I didn't vote; my vote won't matter.' I wish more people would realize that their vote does matter. Everyone has an opportunity to play a role in Democracy, by just voting. If I said it once, I said it 100 times. 'YOUR VOTE MATTERS!.'

In some elections, 2 votes per precinct could make the difference. One of those votes could be yours. Think about it. You choose not to vote and then you find out that the person that would make a difference for the community lost the election by 1 vote. You could have made the difference. You won't get a do-over. At 8:00 pm when the polls close on election day, that is it. Your chance to have had your voice be heard by voting has passed.

So take the time and plan to vote by August 2nd. You can go to the polls on that day or you can vote by using the Absentee Ballot process. Stop by your City Clerk's office for more information

.

Your Vote Matters!
