The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) extends its warm wishes to all Muslims who are observing the holy month of Ramadan in America and across the globe. Ramadan is expected to begin on Thursday, March 23, 2023, and end with the first Muslim festivity of Eid Al-Fitr.

Ramadan is not only about abstaining from food and drink. It is a special time to reflect and attain to the core principles of discipline and purity. It is a special month where for thirty days Muslims break their fast daily with friends and family. It is a month for renewal of family and community bonds. And most importantly, Ramadan is the month of giving and sharing.

In Michigan and across the nation, Islamic centers and mosques will be filled with people conducting special Ramadan prayers and ceremonies. We urge all Muslim centers and mosques to take their security seriously during this holy month with capacity attendance. It is the reality of our world that hate, and violence exist. FBI data and media reports indicate that the threat of hate- motivated violence is real.

In Ramadan, Muslim Charities accelerate their humanitarian efforts to reach the needy and provide much needed relief. AHRC calls upon all Muslims to donate generously to help elevate the dire need of many around the world.
