WAYNE COUNTY PARKS KICKS OFF 2023 EVENT SEASON WITH 38th ANNUAL MARSHMALLOW DROP

More than 20,000 marshmallows will rain from the sky during the annual favorite

Children take off running to gather marshmallows dropped from the helicopters

WESTLAND, MI – The forecast predicts a blizzard of marshmallows! Wayne County Parks will kick off the 2023 event season on Friday, April 7 with its 38th Annual Marshmallow Drop at Elizabeth Park in Trenton starting at 9:00 AM and Nankin Mills in Westland starting at 11:00 AM.

Thousands of Wayne County children will gather for the annual free event, awaiting a helicopter visit from the Easter Bunny who will drop more than 20,000 marshmallows from the sky. Attending children will have the opportunity to race and collect marshmallows that will be redeemed for a prize. The lucky child in each age group, who finds the single-colored marshmallow, will receive a special prize.

To ensure each child receives a fair opportunity to collect marshmallows, participating children will be separated into three age categories: 4 years old and younger, 5-7 years old and 8 and older. Expected attendees do not need to pre-register for this event. Although the marshmallows are fluffy and tempting to eat, they should not be consumed but instead they should be exchanged for an equally pleasing treat.

Both events are free and are a great opportunity for the entire family to get out and have a great time.

Wayne County Parks' Marshmallow Drop is sponsored by ITC Holdings, National Heritage Academies, Shore to Shore Community Federal Credit Union, Wayne County Community College, Environmental Consulting and Technology, Fox 2 News, Friends of Wayne County Parks and Trenton Parks and Recreation.
