1st Inaugural Downriver Motorcity Jazz Series 2023

 

Michiganders have been waiting on the arrival of the Spring and Summer season for months now. Concert schedules are dropping and that means music lovers are getting a glimpse of which artists will be in town to perform. Michigan is special, when it comes to the concert season. There are a variety of venues, from the Fox Theatre to the Areatha Franklin Amphitheater, formerly known as Chene Park to several parks that will have local artist performing all throughout Metro Detroit.

This year,the John Dingell Park, located at West Jefferson and Southfield Rd., will hold the 1st inaugural Downriver Motorcity Jazz Series 2023. Taking place every weekend in June beginning, June 3rd and concluding June 24th. Start time is 3pm. Executive Producer, Organizer and Musician, Jared Berry says that he is expecting about 10,000 people to be in attendance over the month of June. Guest musicians will be Jazz Legends, Duane Parham and Eric Watson. Anyone attending can look forward to hearing music styles such as Smooth Jazz, Jazz Fusion and Traditional Jazz.


Community resources will be available at this venue as well. Like, Wayne Metro Community Action Agency, who will be assisting with energy and water assistance, unpaid back taxes along with other services that residents can find beneficial. Then the Lions Club International will be completing vision screening on-site. What makes this Jazz Series so special is because, it's about giving back to community as a whole, residents, businesses and those that experience the Downriver area.

If you are planning to make your way down, don't forget about the children, you can bring them as well. Ecorse Parks and Recreation will be having the mobile library on-site and the non-profit, We FixinTo Fish, will be there to teach kids the basics and joys of fishing and there will be face-painting. Adults, you are not forgotten about, take advantage of the cardio-drumming activity. Try a new way of exercising and have fun while partaking in it.

The executive producer of this event, Jared Berry, says he wants all of the downriver communities to come together and participate. There will be a donation to the Alexander T Campbell Legacy Fund. It will help fund music programs that are in schools with sending kids to leadership camps, band camps and to obtain musical instruments. The Downriver Motorcity Jazz Series 2023, is scheduled to be the highlight of summer for this area.
