Wayne County to Offer Free Lead Filters and Blood Lead Testing for Qualifying City of Wayne Residents

WAYNE, MI – A Lead Action Level Exceedance (ALE) was declared last week in the City of Wayne after more than 1 in 10 routine water samples from homes in the city tested higher than 15 parts per billion for lead. An ALE does not mean that all homes in the City of Wayne are affected. However, the Wayne County Health Division and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services recommends that children under 18 and those who are pregnant only consume tap water that is run through a lead-reducing water filter in communities where an ALE has been declared.
