On August 26, 2023, roughly 100,000 people gathered promoting and living as the unity of the March on Washington. 60 years later nearing the anniversary date (August 28, 1963) of the March on Washington when Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous, I Have a Dream speech among 200,000 people, those with the same energy arranged to meet and continue the fight.

The event coincides with the anniversary, but the focus is to get those who support the mission for social and civil justice to dedicate/rededicate themselves to the cause. The assembly took place on the National Mall at The Lincoln Memorial. As you approached the memorial you could hear the speakers' words and voices travel through the crowd. "We are here together to build on a dream and make it a reality," said one of the speakers.

Blacks came out in numbers as well as many of the Native American community, White community, Latino and Asian community. Any person interested in social justice, racism, poverty, and violence issues crowded together to keep the fight alive and obtain a solution. People from all over the country came. Felicia Brown from Jacksonville, Florida who was only 3 years old when the March on Washington occurred, came to Washington, D.C. "Even though I was born during segregation, I didn't really see it, like my older brothers, my mother and sister; so, I just wanted to be apart of this march and feel connected. I felt like it was something I needed to do," said Brown.

The event started at 8:00 am and went on until about 4:00pm with plenty of other events organized throughout the day and night. The main purpose of this anniversary gathering was to spread the momentum, provide resources and power to continue with the fight for freedom, jobs, and equality.

"People here for a reason," said Big Q a community activist, "So whatever the reason that brought you here today, after you leave here you should be able to go somewhere and connect, to make it meaningful. It [aren't] just we just got together this one time and we [aren't] doing nothing, we are doing something after we leave here.".
