Mildred Gaddis, Community Partners Providing Sleeping Bags for the Homeless

DETROIT, Mich. - (December 1, 2023) – As the harsh winter weather approaches, Mildred Gaddis, host of The Mildred Gaddis Show on 105.9 Kiss-FM, is once again encouraging the community to help keep Detroit's homeless population warm.

The 8th Annual Bed in a Bag Sleeping Bag Drive for the Homeless is set to take place this Sunday, December 3, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the McDonald's on 1000 Mack Ave in Detroit.

The community is invited to make monetary donations on-site during the event. Next month, Mildred and her team of volunteers will purchase and distribute sleeping bags and toiletries to the homeless around the city of Detroit. Anyone who donates on Sunday morning will receive a free coffee from McDonald's.

Mildred Gaddis is a 40-year radio veteran and a well-known voice in the community. She began this initiative after seeing the need of the homeless community firsthand. "The Sleeping Bag Drive is more than a charity event; it's a collective effort to bring warmth and hope to those who need it most. I'm thrilled to be a part of this meaningful initiative, and I encourage everyone to join us in making a positive impact."

Each year, the event raises tens of thousands of dollars and helps provide hundreds of sleeping bags to the homeless in Detroit. The event is being organized and coordinated by The EMG Foundation. Anyone unable to attend Sunday's event can also mail checks to support Bed in a Bag to:
