Serving Metropolitan Detroit Since 1944
If you know me, then you have heard me say over and over that we must support our local businesses. I say it and I put it in the Telegram each week. The survival of our local businesses starts with us and it ends with us.
If you listen to news reports and read some news articles, the picture is gloom and doom for the existence of many small businesses in our communities. The mainstream media is focused on the resurgence of the City of Detroit and there are many programs that have been formed to provide financial resources to business owners and even start-ups.
But in the core coverage area of the Telegram, the financial resources are not there. (Some are coming, so keep your eyes open). But what we do have now is each other. Support of local businesses can come in the form of shopping at the business, using their services or telling others about business. It's easy and it is the right thing to do. We must return our cities to a level of self-sufficiency. It can be done, one person, one family and one community group at a time.
Each week we publish ads from local community businesses and once a month we publish a list of community businesses with the hopes that the community will reach out and support them. If we all do a little more, the businesses in the community will thrive.
I truly believe that all we need is us.
Next week we will publish the business listing. For more information send us an email to [email protected] or call 313-928-2955.
