"Well, Hello My Child!" is the greeting you receive when you call her on the phone. Mother Hattie (Cross) White of Detroit has been blessed by God to see another year. Our matriarch will turn 102 on Friday, February 23, 2024

Mother White has been such an inspiration to so many. She has a way that makes one feel as if they are the most important person to her. Her love of God exudes through her words, through her generosity, through her care and compassion for all people, and her gentle nature always brings a calm to any storm you may be facing. Throughout her life, Mother White has been a sister, a friend, a confidante, a wife, a marriage counselor, a prayer warrior, and a listening ear to all those who have been graced by her acquaintance.

Although she birthed 3 sons, Mother White adopted over a hundred men through her church community, in-laws, and friends of her family and they all think that they're her favorite!

The Cross-White Family has been honored to share "Granny" with the world. Her 4 daughters, a slew of grands, great grands, and great-great grands have been firsthand witnesses to what it truly means to "KNOW the Lord!" Granny has instilled this in us. She has shown us how to be in right relationship with God, and in turn, it will show up in our relationships with people. Her expression of love shows us how to be kind, patient, long-suffering, meek, humble, understanding, and unselfish towards mankind.

The Founding First Lady of Love Joy Missionary Baptist Church of River Rouge, Michigan has made an impact on the world in 101 years. We honor her during this Black History Month and on her birthday for not only speaking love but truly walking in love.
