Ecorse

The Ecorse City Council will meet Tuesday, July 9 beginning at 7:30 p.m. City Council meetings are held in the Council Chambers of the Albert B. Buday Civic Center, located at 3869 W. Jefferson Ave.

Garden City

The Lucky Squirrel outdoor flea market and craft event returns to Garden City on Saturday, July 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the northeast corner of Ford Road and Middlebelt in the Town Center Shopping Plaza. Admission and parking are free. Vendors will be selling such items as custom-made jewelry, homemade bath and candle products, pet items, baked goods, seasonal jams and jellies, and all types of handcrafted items. Food will be available for purchase also. The next Lucky Squirrel will be held on September 21.

Garden City Presbyterian Church hosts Alcoholics Anonymous meetings on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday at 8 p.m. Meetings are closed format and are open only to AA members or those who have desire to stop drinking. Garden City Presbyterian is located at 1841 Middlebelt Road.

Inkster

The Inkster Police Department will host Coffee With a Cop on Thursday, July 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Oak Street Health Care Clinic, located at 27155 Cherry Hill. Coffee will be provided by the police department and residents are encouraged to attend, get to know their police officers, address neighborhood concerns and offer ideas on community solutions.

River Rouge

The Wayne Mobile Health Unit will be at the River Rouge Food Pantry at Ann Visger Elementary School, located at 11121 W. Jefferson Ave. on Wednesday, July 10 from 9 a.m. to12 p.m. Services provided will include blood pressure screening, diabetes, cholesterol, and kidney function screening. Insurance is not required but if you have insurance bring your card so they can bill for services. If you have ID, bring that as well.

State Representative Tyrone Carter will host Coffee Hour on the second Friday of each month at River Rouge City Hall Council Chambers. The next Coffee Hour will take place July 12 from 1 to 2 p.m.

The River Rouge Historical Museum will be open on Sunday, July 14 from noon to 4 p.m. The museum is located at 10750 W. Jefferson Ave.

Wayne

The Annual Cruisin’ Downtown Wayne US 12 will take place on Saturday, July 13 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. along Michigan Avenue in downtown Wayne. The free event will include classic cars, food, music and plenty of family fun.
