Allen Park

The Downtown Allen Park Farmers and Makers Market is in full swing through October 25 at the corner of Park and Harrison Avenues. The Market runs each Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. and features fresh produce, plants, herbs, baked goods, and handcrafted items.

The Free Music in the Streets Concert Series will kick off on Wednesday, June 5 at the Allen Park Community Center, located at 15800 White Avenue. The featured act will be the Detroit Social Club Blues Band, which will perform blues, soulful R&B, Motown hits, jazz, funk, and pop standards. The concert will run from 7 to 9 p.m.


Marathon Petroleum will present a Small Business Saturday on June 1 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Kemeny Recreation Center, located at 2260 S. Fort Street. The event will feature local vendors, entertainment, food trucks, and giveaways. The first 200 participants will receive $20 vouchers to spend.

If you or someone you know is a recent arrival to Detroit, you can shop the free Clothing Closet at the Delray Community Center, located at 420 S Leigh St. The Clothing Close will be open Saturday, June 1 from noon to 3 p.m. For more information call 313-967-4880.


The Ecorse Department of Parks and Recreation is offering Cardio Drumming Fitness Classes on Saturdays in June from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. Classes will take place at the Ecorse Recreation Building, located at 4068 W. Jefferson. Classes are free but registration is required. Register by calling 313-386-2520 ext. 7041,

Garden City

The Garden City City Council will meet on Monday, June 3 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center Council Chambers located at 6000 Middlebelt Road.

River Rouge

Citywide Clean up is on June 1st. Meet at City Hall and lunch will be provided

The River Rouge City Council will meet on Tuesday, June 4 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Court Room at City Hall, located at 10600 W. Jefferson.

Food Truck Fridays will return to Memorial Park this summer beginning June 7 and 21 at noon.


Al-Anon Family Groups holds its Sticking to Basics meeting for families with a loved one struggling with an alcohol addiction on Saturday mornings at 9:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 465 Oak St. Use the side entrance at the community building.

Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) operates a 24/7 Mobile Crisis Response Team which can provide short-term crisis response and intervention for anyone, adults and children, who are experiencing a mental health or substance abuse crisis. The crisis line can be reached at 800-241-4949.
