Dearborn

Zaman International will host its 15th Annual Run Walk Picnic on Saturday, September 21 at Ford Field Park. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include a timed 5K run, kids’ run, a 5K walk, a barbecue picnic, pony rides, petting zoo, face painting, basketball competition, and more. Detroit

The Detroit Board of Police Commissioners will hold a 4th Precinct Residents and Stakeholders Community Meeting on Thursday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Kemeny Recreation Center. Topics of discussion will include neighborhood and citywide crime trends, police-community relations, and community-public safety recognitions. The Kemeny Center is located at 2260 S. Fort Street. Ecorse

The Ecorse Senior Center will present Bingo on Tuesday, September 10 from noon to 2 p.m. The Senior Center is located at 4072 West Jefferson Ave.

A We Are Family Community Health Fair will be held on Saturday, September 14 at Ecorse High School from noon to 4 p.m. The event will include free blood pressure and diabetes screenings, kidney disease screening, hygiene kits, backpack giveaway, raffle and free food. Ecorse High School is located at 27225 Outer Drive.

On Tuesday, September 24, the Ecorse Senior Center will host a Movie Event at the MJR Theater in Southgate. Transportation, movie ticket, and medium popcorn are included in the $5 price. Meet at the senior center at 10 a.m. You must preregister and pre pay by September 17. Call 313-386-2520 ext. 7041 to reserve a spot.

Inkster

The Inkster Task Force Farmer’s Market is operating on Wednesday evenings from 4 to 7 p.m. through September at its new location at 27301 South River Park Drive near the old city hall and amphitheater, northeast of Michigan Avenue and Inkster Road. Eastern Market’s pop –up stand will be present as well, along with artisans and craft vendors, and cooking demonstrations. The market will accept EBT, SNAP, and Senior Market Fresh.

Walk a Mile Wednesday will take place with the Inkster Police Department on Wednesday, September 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meet up at the Inkster Police Department and get to know members of the city’s police department, chat, and share concerns while getting some exercise. River Rouge

State Representative Tyrone Carter will host Coffee Hour on the second Friday of each month at River Rouge City Hall Council Chambers. The next Coffee Hour will take place September 13 from 1 to 2 p.m.

Wayne

The Northwest Wayne Chapter of Families Against Narcotics (FAN) hosts its Stronger Together support group the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are held virtually via Zoom and offer a safe space to find support for those impacted by a loved one’s addiction. Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) operates a 24/7 Mobile Crisis Response Team which can provide short-term crisis response and intervention for anyone, adults and children, who are experiencing a mental health or substance abuse crisis. The crisis line can be reached at 800-241-4949.
