Youth from around Wayne County Michigan have been learning about the importance of civic engagement. The committee has registered students to vote at four local school districts that has resulted in new voters in eleven cities.

The students have shown a level of excitement that wasn't expected, but was welcomed. Along with registering to vote, they are also learning about the history of the NAACP and learning how they can make a difference in their community and the country. Most are waiting for their opportunity to vote for President. When they were informed that that won't happened until 2020, they were disappointed, but reassured the team that they would vote in the August election.

The Western Wayne County NAACP branch is looking for more youth to be a part of their Youth Branch. Any youth or adult that want to join or be a part of the branch can attend the General Membership meetings on the second Monday of each month at 7:00pm. They meet at Christian Faith Ministries 27500 Marquette in Garden City. For more information follow them on Facebook at Western Wayne County NAACP Branch.
