Inkster Police Department rename Bake Sale

In Memory of Dorothy Gardner

The Inkster Police Department and Inkster Commission will host the Dorothy Gardner Memorial bake sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27 to support Inkster community outreach. The event will take place in the lobby of the Inkster Police Department.

Dorothy Gardner created the event more than two years ago to support community outreach efforts by the city's police department and commission on aging. Gardner was a dedicated public servant, serving as an auxiliary police officer in Inkster and on the city's commission on aging. She was actively involved in her community, dedicating time to raise money for the city and supporting outreach efforts.

Following her passing, the Inkster Police Department dedicated the bake sale to honor her legacy, creating the Dorothy Gardner Memorial Bake Sale. Her event carries on, supporting increased community relations efforts by the department.

All items at the bake sale are $1 this quarter, with proceeds from the sale supporting concession equipment for free movie nights and Coffee with a Cop events. The funds also support the department's efforts to provide basketballs, jump ropes and chalk for children in the city.
