Detroit now testing seniors 60 years of age and up for COVID-19

During Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan Wednesday regular briefing, he said 78 Detroiters have died of COVID-19 since May 1. Of those only two people were younger than 50. Because of that, the mayor said the city is expanding testing at the state fairgrounds site to include more senior citi

zens. Begining on Thursday, May 14, 2020, the city will expand its free drive-thru testing program to residents who are 60 and older.

Those persons can get tested without a prescription or authorization through their em.

An appointment is required before coming to the Fairgrounds.

Residents must bring photo ID and proof of residency to appointment.

No prescription is required

Any Detroiter over the age of 60 can call (313) 230-0505 to book their appointment.

Accepted forms of proof of residency include:

Driver's license

State identification card

City of Detroit Municipal ID Card

Or any of the following documents dated within the previous 30 days and with the patients name on it:

Utility (Electricity, Gas, Heating, Water or Internet) or credit card bill or statement

Employment record including Pay Stub, W-2, W-4 or earnings statement issued with the name and address of the employer

Federal, state or City of Detroit government issued document, letter or record

Financial institution account statement

Housing lease or rental agreement (unexpired)

Mortgage or local property tax statement

Life, health, auto, home insurance policy

Michigan title or vehicle registration

Letter or record from a religious organization, social services agency, domestic violence or homeless shelter located within the city confirming residency or services provided within the previous 30 days

Letter of record from a hospital or medical treatment facility addressed to patient or letter confirming residency or services provided in the previous 30 days

Letter or record addressed to patient at a Detroit address for a school, college, or university located in the state of Michigan that the applicant or a child of the applicant attends Michigan that the applicant or a child of the applicant attends.
