WESTLAND - The City of Westland has launched a new financial and community performance dashboard available at http://www.cityofwestland.com.
The new dashboard, powered by Michigan-based Munetrix, provides an insider's look at the city's financial health by providing a convenient and easy-to-navigate portal for multi-year data regarding where the city's money comes from and where its spent. Also included on the dashboard are other relevant financial reports and community data insights.
The launch has coincided with "Sunshine Week," which is an annual nationwide initiative that acknowledges the importance of open government. "Sunshine Week" was established in 2005 and occurs every year in mid-March, along with James Madison's birthday and National Freedom of Information Day on March 16th. This year, "Sunshine Week" falls on the week of March 14th - March 20th and Westland's new, transparency focused dashboard will launch on Monday, March 15.
The City of Westland previously launched a Police Transparency Dashboard in September of 2020 which provides up-to-date transparency information about the police department to the public. The dashboard shows crime rates, arrest data, citation data, citizen complaints, officer use of force and training data for all of the department's 81 sworn officers and 25 civilian employees.
Both dashboards are available year-round at http://www.cityofwestland.com.
"Westland remains committed to practices that promote transparency," commented Mayor Wild. "Transparency is inextricably linked to good governing and public trust.
