Islamic Center of Detroit Hosts Law-Enforcement Appreciation Ramadan "Iftar" Dinner

Other guests included Mr. Bill Bazzy, Mayor of Dearborn Heights; Mr. Todd Bettison, Detroit Deputy Mayor; Dearborn Police Department, Detroit Police Department, Dearborn Heights Police Department, Wayne County Sheriff's Office. It was a memorable evening for everyone. The dinner was an opportunity to reaffirm and send the message that law enforcement at all levels and the community's faith and civic leaders are partners aspiring for the common good of the country. "We are delighted to hold this annual iftar dinner," said ICD Executive Director Sufian Nabhan. "The purpose of this event is to show and express appreciation to American law enforcement," added Nabhan. "We thank everyone who attended," concluded Nabhan. "Ongoing engagement and dialogue with stakeholders are vital to building trust and understanding," said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. "In a democracy, the government is not they, it is us together," stated Hamad.
On April 12, the Islamic Center of Detroit (ICD) held its annual law enforcement Ramadan "Iftar" dinner. This annual event is an opportunity to thank law enforcement for the work they do protecting all Americans during the year. This memorable event is a tradition established by the ICD.
This special event was emceed by Mr. Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director, who welcomed all law-enforcement and guests, conveying the community's sincere appreciation for their ongoing contributions to the safety and security of the nation. Muslim Clergy delivered remarks.
This annual Ramadan "Iftar" breaking the fast dinner attracts several local, state, and federal law-enforcement agencies. All gathered embracing the good will of Ramadan, breaking bread together as a big family.
