Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the liberal lioness of the Supreme Court, died last week.

She was 87.

She was nominated to the Court by President Bill Clinton in 1993, and stayed on until death.

She became part of the liberal wing of the court as it shifted to the right.

But ideology did not seem to define her as one of her closest friends became the late conservative Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

President Trump has a short list of replacements for Ginsburg, mostly women, but would like to wait for a mourning period before nominating one of them.

The Republicans in the Senate seem to want to get going with a replacement.

But wait a second.

President Obama was stopped in the nominating process with Merrick Garland in 2016 when Justice Scalia suddenly died.

The Republicans in the Senate said it was an election year and the next President should pick the next Justice.

Now the Democrats with a long memory is saying the same thing.

Wait until after the election.

So the next few weeks should be fun with the fight over who should pick the next Justice.

The Democrats are pointing out what I even consider troubling from Republicans when they stopped Obama from naming Garland to the Court.

Lets just hope that the fight over the next justice doesn't mar Ginsburg's accomplishments.
