Inkster Summer Music Festival

The Annual Inkster MusicFest was a hit for the community, the county and neighboring cities

The stage was set all weekend long for the anticipated Inkster Summer Music Festival. Located on Inkster Rd, north of Michigan Ave, the festival featured a lineup of local and renowned artists from various genres. Altogether, the lineup and the entire festival was curated to ensure that all festival goers would have an electrifying experience, including children.

Upon entering the festival, there was an area dedicated to the Kids Zone. It was an area where games, rock climbing, inflatable activities, and face painting took place. Children could be seen having fun but, as their time ended and it was time to leave with their families, there was a problem. If you are a parent, you probably have guessed it by now, they were met with crying and sad faces. One thing for sure, it was a family-friendly event.

This Music Fest had food trucks that made the air smell amazing. If you were hungry, you were in danger of wanting to eat something from every food truck. If you were a picky eater, there was at least a food truck that you would've been satisfied about. There were also different types of vendors lined-up as you walked towards the stage. Vendors who had vegan products, jewelry and beads and if you wore your hair in a natural style, there was a woman that had you covered as well. She was showing off her skills and talents by stylizing locs and twist on-site.

Festival attendees had many choices to chose from as the block long choice of vendors provided somthing for everyone

Now for some people, when it comes to outside events, safety can be an issue or concern. Rightfully so, their feelings are valid. Typically, no one wants to feel unsafe or worry about, if there will be ample security, in case something was to happen. Organizers once again, had this area covered and well thought out. Roads were blocked off; traffic was being monitored and you were met with barricades and plenty of law enforcement. Michigan State Police, Wayne County Sheriffs and Inkster Police were all present. While on duty, they monitored the entire event space by making sure that all who entered were searched, including their bags/purses. Law Enforcement definitely kept an eye out for anything suspicious, out of order and they were visibly seen walking throughout the crowds of people. They ensured that the level of safety would remain at an ultimate high.

The weekend was full of music for everyone. There was HipHop and R & B on Friday, On Sadurday there was R & B/ Neo-Soul and Blues performers and on Sunday the crowd listened to Gospel and Jazz. No matter what type of music you like, you could come out during the weekend and enjoy live performances from local groups.

By the end of the day, attendees were really able to enjoy all of the festivities that were provided, even to the food trucks that kept everyone's belly filled. If you missed this year's event, make your plans to be there next year. On Sunday morning, there is also a lineup for those who attend or would like to attend a church service. In the words of the organizers, "prepare to be mesmerized" and don't miss the chance to immerse yourself in the rhythm and groove.
